5 DAY TRAVEL GUIDE TO PUERTO RICO
Hi guys! So many of you know I recently came back from my 5 day 4 night trip from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. I decided to visit this island particularly for its diversity of food, adventures and nature. Unlike other islands that have mainly one kind of landscape, Puerto rico has it all.
Day 1:
We embarked on our journey from Boston to PR, it was a short 4 hour flight, and two movies later on my Delta comfort seat, I had landed in the sunny San Juan International Airport by noon. Now, deciding which hotel to stay at was a challenge. After doing some research, it was pretty obvious that Isla Verde area of PR was most convenient. This is where most of the franchise hotels are located.

Isla Verde is about a 12 minute ride from the airport we arrived at our hotel Intercontinental, San Juan. Now, if you travel with me you will soon realize, views are everything for me. What's a hotel room without a good ocean view? As part of ihg rewards we were given ocean view with stunning views.
After a warm welcome, and a early flight we had the whole day ahead of us. Thankfully after an early check in, we changed and headed straight to the beach for some food and pina coladas. We had lunch at a beach side restaurant and sipped on coconut juice. The first day we spent time at the intercontinental's stunning pool with a waterfall.

After relaxing time at the pool. We walked about 10 minutes to Ritz Carlton for a really nice Italian dinner, and spent remaining of our nights playing Blackjack at the Ritz Casino.
Day 2
If you get to me know, you'll know I love adventures. I had reserved a private tour through our hotel to EL Yunque rainforest tour hiking tour. Now if you are going to visit El Yunque rainforest, make sure the tour includes a stop at La mina falls. After a mile long hike of about 45 minutes, which truly felt like a hike with its rocky incline and decline, we arrived at La mina falls. I was able to snap some stunning pictures before bathing in the falls. The tour was approx 5 hours in the AM.

At 2 pm we came back to our hotel and after a quick nap we were ready to take another adventure. Our hotel had happy hour everyday from 5-6pm which was great. After a glass of wine we headed to old San Juan for some dinner. We tried the local food mofongo (fried plantain) and went around couple bars. Let me tell the drinks at the bar in old san juan were so much cheaper than the hotels. We definitely took advantage of that.

Day 3
Today was the day I was looking forward my entire trip. We had booked a catamaran tour from East Island Excursions to the world's top beach flamenco beach located on the island of Culebra. It's about a 45 minute bumpy ride from Farajo the eastern coast of PR. The tour allows you the option of shuttle pick up which is a no brainer since taxis are 80$ one way!! The tour included lunch, snacks and most importantly free alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks.
Our first stop on the catamaran was a 1/30 min stop at snookering reef, followed by delicious lunch and beach stop at Culebra. Honestly, this was the highlight of our trip. I have never seen such amazing white sand beach and clear blue water before.

After our full day trip from Culebra, we decided to recharge ourselves with a quick nap and head to dinner. We decided to eat Asian for dinner at our hotel. After dinner we attended a salsa party that was taking place in our hotel. What's a visit to PR without a little salsa move? We had an amazing time. We also stopped by the club Brava which is known to have best night life.

Day 4:
Today was the day to wake up without any alarms. After breakfast we relaxed at the beach, followed by some pool time. Later in the afternoon we decided to visit the historic sites of Old San Juan. We visited the San Felipe del Morro Fortress which had some stunning views of the caribbean sea. It was an inexpensive $5 fee which is valid for 2 forts for 7 days. It was definitely worth the visit.

Finally after some lunch at old San juan we headed back tot he hotel. Since it was our last night, we had some Mexican food and decided to try our luck again at blackjack. Of course an hour later, we were on way to the hotel with a hard loss haha. It's OK cause its the experience that matters correct?
Day 5:

After a good breakfast and lounging by the pool, we were sad to go back home at last. Six hours later I was back in Boston, fortunately in 80 degree weather. Hope you guys find this post informative. I highly recommend visiting the island of PR, and there's so much do that you can easily spend 7 days there.
Hope you guys enjoy your summer travels.
until next time,
Xx
